That’s because St. John reached out to Wagner in 1981 after his wife, Natalie Wood, passed.

The two had actually known each other since the late 1950s but did not reconnect until the actor lost his wife. The two talked for a while before making their relationship official on Valentine’s Day of 1982. Eight years after they began seeing each other, Wagner and St. John finally exchanged their “I dos” on May 6, 1990. The couple was happy for most of their relationship, but controversies from his past kept following the actor. Fortunately for him, he had his wife to lean on.
